The Xiaomi 13 series will finally launch on December 11
Why was it postponed in the first place? Well, to our knowledge, Xiaomi did not share a reason, but we can assume what it is. It’s probably due to the death of the former President of the People’s Republic of China, Jiang Zemin. That is the reason several other companies postponed their launch events too. In any case, the event will be 10 days late, but it’s going to happen. This launch event will take place in China, of course. The Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro will arrive to global markets too, but later on. The Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro will be somewhat different this time around, design-wise. The vanilla Xiaomi 13 will have flatter sides, and a flat display, in addition to being smaller. The Xiaomi 13 Pro will be a bit curvier, and includes a curved display. Both of these phones surfaced in CAD-based renders already, while we’ve seen some additional leaks too. The Xiaomi 13 Pro will be the more powerful of the two phones as well.
The ‘Pro’ model’s main advantage will be its 1-inch camera sensor
Its main advantage may be a 1-inch camera sensor that will be used on the back. That will be the same 1-inch camera Xiaomi used in the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, the Sony IMX989 sensor. The Xiaomi 13 won’t get that same camera. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 will fuel both smartphones, while both phones will ship with Android 13 globally, and MIUI 14. MIUI 14 will also become official on December 11, by the way. These two smartphones will be made out of metal and glass. Vegan leather models will also be a thing, at least in China. The global event will likely follow in Q1 next year.
