Excerpts of the chat with a Verizon representative were revealed to PiunikaWeb (via SamMobile) by a tipster. Based on the screenshot accompanying the leak, the Galaxy S21 (at least on Verizon) could get the One UI 4.1 update by “this month ending.” Although there’s no specific date available yet, this is a decent ballpark estimate of the rollout. Of course, Samsung has been working on One UI 4.1 for the Galaxy S21 since at least last month, so it was only a matter of time before we learned about its availability.
Galaxy Z Flip 3 and the Z Fold 3 should also receive the One UI 4.1 update imminently
But even despite the revelation made by Verizon support, we can’t definitively say this is when the update will reach devices. Hopefully, we’ll uncover more information from Samsung over the next few days. Based on recent reporting, it’s likely that One UI 4.1 will first appear on the Galaxy S21 Ultra. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S21+ and the vanilla Galaxy S21 would get it shortly after. We also expect the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Z Flip 3 to receive the update soon. In terms of changes, devices already featuring One UI 4.0 will not see any massive changes. But we are counting on seeing a few software additions, including some of the features of the Galaxy S22. The One UI 4.1 introduction video posted by Samsung this month gives us some insight into what’s to come. It’s unclear if camera features such as Pro Mode will make it to older flagships. The integration of the stock Samsung camera app within select social media apps could be enabled with the Galaxy S21, however. Samsung has been among the fastest to roll out Android updates for its flagships, excluding Google. So it’s no surprise that One UI 4.1 could reach older flagships within a few weeks of its unveiling on the Galaxy S22 series.
