Many airlines around the world offer WiFi onboard. Of course, passengers always complain about the low speed of the Internet on the flights of some airlines. But it seems that Hawaiian Airlines is working with Starlink to create a new experience for its passengers. According to the latest company announcement, Hawaiian Airlines will bring in-flight broadband to some of its aircrafts, including Airbus A330, A321neo, and Boeing 787-9. The installation starts in 2023, and it will take a chunk of time for all aircrafts to feature Starlink’s satellite internet connectivity. “We waited until technology caught up with our high standards for the guest experience, but it will be worth the wait. Our guests can look forward to fast, seamless and free WiFi to complement our award-winning onboard Hawaiian hospitality.” President and CEO of Hawaiian Airlines, Peter Ingram said in a statement.
Starlink offers satellite internet to Hawaiian Airlines passengers
The internet connectivity that Hawaiian Airlines plans to offer has major differences from other airlines. For example, Hawaiian Airlines does not require passengers to struggle with registration pages or payment portals. Also, the WiFi onboard will be provided to passengers for free. This could be a great advantage for Hawaiian Airlines as other companies usually offer Internet with additional fees. For areas where access to the Internet is difficult, and wireless carriers are unable to extend their coverage to those areas, Starlink may be the best solution. This partnership between Hawaiian Airlines and Starlink aims to offer “high-speed, low-latency broadband internet access” to the passengers on flights between the Hawaiian islands, the U.S., Oceania, and Asia. During the Russia-Ukraine war, Starlink did its best to give the Ukrainian people access to a stable internet, even under bombardment. In the days when the Starlink owner Elon Musk is busy with closing the $44 billion deal of purchasing Twitter, its company is doing great at expanding people’s access to the Internet.
