Well, according to a report by Tizen Help, which is based on an alleged official answer shared by a Samsung Community member, Samsung may do this in more countries moving forward.

Screen protectors may be excluded from more Galaxy smartphones in the future

Why, though? Well, based on what was said, Samsung feels like its smartphones are becoming resilient enough not to need a screen protector. The Galaxy S22 series, for example, is the first Galaxy S series to ship with an Armor Aluminum frame. On top of that, Gorilla Glass Victus+ is included on both the front and back of all three devices. That’s not the only reason, though. It seems like third-party screen protector manufacturers have something to do with this. Samsung basically thinks that there are a ton of third-party options in the market, for people who really want a screen protector. Based on the statement, Samsung sees the continuation of including screen protectors like a contribution to creating waste. So, the company doesn’t seem to plan to sell screen protectors in Korea either, at least not for the Galaxy S22 series.

This practice may spread to other markets as well

That decision will likely continue for future products in Korea, and very likely spread to other markets as well. Creating waste has been one of the main reasons why Samsung no longer ships a charger with its smartphones, at least that is the reasoning Samsung shared. The Galaxy S22 series doesn’t come with a charger in any market, to our knowledge. So, if you’d like to fast-charge your phone, you’ll need to buy a charger separately, if you don’t already own one. It remains to be seen what will happen moving forward, but based on this, the Galaxy S23 series may arrive without a screen protector in all markets. Samsung may not even offer its official screen protector in the future, we’ll see.
