After the 2020 US presidential election and blocking Trump from Twitter, a new social platform called Parler made the headlines for its so-called free speech environment. The platform, launched in 2018, was later removed from the Google and Apple app stores. However, it could later get back to the app stores with some changes to its content moderation policies. Now, it might have a new owner. Kanye recently closed his Twitter and Instagram account over controversial antisemitic posts. He is now making an offer to buy Parler, and the deal is expected to close soon. The Parler parent company, Parlement Technologies, has confirmed that the transaction could be done in the fourth quarter of 2022.

Yet, the price is not announced, but it shouldn’t be too much as Parler is still a novice social media platform. Parlement Technologies CEO George Farmer said, “The proposed acquisition will assure Parler a future role in creating an uncancelable ecosystem where all voices are welcome.” Kanye also added, “In a world where conservative opinions are considered to be controversial we have to make sure we have the right to freely express ourselves.” Kanye’s Twitter and Instagram accounts are closed due to the antisemitic messages. A Twitter spokesperson has confirmed that “The account in question has been locked due to a violation of Twitter’s policies.” After getting back to Play Store and App Store, Parler ensured Google and Apple that the platform would be more careful with its content moderation policies. Yet, we don’t know what approach Parler wants to take, but if it wants to allow racist, sexist, or antisemitic posts, Google and Apple will have zero tolerance for that.
