Android 12L doesn’t let you show touches while screen recording

The march of progress waits for no Android user. As new features are added to the software, some fall by the wayside. What’s unfortunate is that some features that get dropped are actually useful. This is the case with the show touches option in Android 12L. When you’re recording your screen, you’d usually be able to enable “show touches.” This means that when you tap the screen during a recording, there would be a marker during the playback that shows where you tapped the screen. This is a feature you either love or hate, but it’s always nice to have the option. Unfortunately, that option’s no longer there. In the final release of Android 12L, there’s no option to show touches while screen recording. When you tap on the screen recording option, you’re always greeted with a pop-up giving you some options. Under the audio option, you used to have the ability to show the touches while recording. Google quietly yanked this feature away and didn’t give a reason as to why.

Speaking of Android 12L, it fixed a lot of issues in Android 12

As expected, Android 12L will bring some new features to Android phones, but that’s not it. This platform update will also squash a lot of the bugs that were plaguing Android 12. In fact, the final release of Android 12L actually fixed a total of 80 issues affecting Pixel devices. A fair amount of the issues affected the Pixel 6 phones exclusively. This includes the Wi-Fi issue that arrived on the February security patch. Also, there are improvements to the under-display scanner and the camera performance. If you’re waiting on this update, it’s live for Pixel phones from the Pixel 3a to the Pixel 5a. A version for the Pixel 6 phones will come out later this month.
