Now as per the latest official blog, some new features, along with the Android app public preview, are coming to Windows 11 OS next month. Windows chief Panos Panay mentioned in the blog that this would be the first big Windows 11 OS update. It will include not only Android app public preview but also a redesigned Notepad and a new Media Player. Taskbar improvements will also be a part of the update. It will include a mute and unmute feature, and also a feature that will display the clock on secondary connected monitors as well. These were the prominent features that were missing during the launch of the Windows 11 OS. However, good things take time, and Microsoft is still working on bringing back the drag-and-drop functionality to the taskbar. The weather widget is also making a return to the taskbar with the upcoming Windows 11 update. Notably, Microsoft started testing it last month, and it seems like everything went well during the testing.

Talking about noteworthy, apart from the Android app public preview, the Notepad and Media Player are getting revamped. Both will get dark modes and other UI elements that closely match the Windows 11 UI. Coming to the elephant in the room, Android app support, do note that this feature will be available as a “public preview”. This means that it will still be in beta. So, you may come across bugs and glitches using them. Though there are some unofficial ways to get the Google Play Store running on Windows 11, we would suggest that if you don’t know what you are dealing with, wait for the official support to arrive. Windows 10 and 11 now run on over 1.4 billion computers across the globe each month. This boost in numbers is also supported by the strong growth in usage during the pandemic. Keeping in mind that people are increasingly making use of video calling apps such as Cisco WebEx, Slack, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom, there are some improvements in this department as well. Apparently, the company is making the screen sharing process easier in apps such as Microsoft Teams and more. You will be able to quickly share window content on a video call using the new tab that will appear when you hover the mouse over supported apps on the taskbar.
